I have been designing and making objects for over 25 years, during the last two years I have focused on driftwood that I find on the Sefton coast. I started out at Southport Art College followed by a degree at Manchester specialising in 3D design.

On graduation I took a job working with people with autism instructing in woodwork this lead me to work in the charity sector gaining an MA in 2007.

The driftwood and my interest in it came a couple of years ago after we got a dog - living 5 minutes from the sea means lots of dog walks on the beach with its everchanging and elemental nature. The wood that myself and the dog discover on the shore line brings inspiration as to how it can be given a second life and function that preserves its form texture and colour - the range of hardwood that we find includes oak, teak, mahogany and beech, that often used to be part of boats, there is a recycling and green aspect to what I do but my key motivation is finding the beauty and purpose in the wood bringing it to people for them to experiance.
